“For intelligence and grace”. For thirty years the puppets have a home in Santarcangelo is the title of the exhibition curated by Claudio Ballestracci, craftsman and artist, in collaboration with Federica Foschi and Claudia Gallo for the municipal museums of Santarcangelo, exhibited at various venues in Santarcangelo from 2020 to 2021, Until it has arrived at the MET.
“Puppets and puppets were delivered to me enclosed in three large cardboard boxes, where each character was wrapped in a thin white paper that made them all resembling bowels of bog waiting for the metamorphosis or, more prosaically, small funerary sudari”. The staging takes inspiration from this meeting of the artist with the puppets, and proposes again “the moment of the debozzolatura, that is to remove the bandages to the small mummies… The protagonists “inanimate”, are illuminated one by one, and speak to us from their stubborn silence. No recording, no video documentation are necessary to bring back to life the ‘fetish’ actor who expresses himself only through the oxymoron of the ethereal tangibility of his bizarre stage”.
