The municipal museums of Santarcangelo offer themselves to the community and the public as a permanent factory, in continuous dialogue with the surrounding area. They preserve material evidence of the territory’s identity — spanning ethnography, art, and history — while engaging with the evolving dynamics of contemporary society.

The MET is home not only to objects, but also to a wealth of experience and knowledge.
The museum is currently focused on improving the quality of the learning experience through a range of initiatives. These include making the museum more accessible from the outside—starting with an updated website—enhancing staff training to better welcome and support visitors, and improving the understanding of content through the use of multiple languages and interpretive tools. The museum is also expanding its educational programs for schools and creating a new exhibition space to complement the main display area, which is currently under renovation. As part of this effort, the museum’s storage collections are also being made accessible to the public.

These initiatives have been carried out as part of the project “MET: Collections and Traditions for All”, funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) M1C3-3, Action 1.2 – “Removal of physical and cognitive barriers in museums, libraries, and archives.”
At the heart of this project is the opening to the public of the museum’s storage area, which houses the archaeological and ethnographic collections of the Santarcangelo museums.
While renovation work is underway on the MET building—which is temporarily closed to visitors—a new exhibition space is being offered to the public. Usually accessible only to museum staff, this space is now open, inclusive, and constantly evolving.
